Email: “Re: Just a signature.”

Filed under: Politics @ 9:04 am

My mother and I got into a discussion about politics recently. This is one of my responses, which I felt deserved wider distribution… it could be made more eloquent, but it was written quickly.

(About the subject line: I sent her an email just to point out the signature, which started the discussion.)

Downtime.

Due to technical issues that I don’t fully understand (yet), the server this blog (and my email, and my wiki, etc) is hosted on had some unscheduled downtime. It appears to be running again.

Fall Grades. (w00t!)

Filed under: School @ 4:48 pm

My grades were posted today.

  • CDA 3201, Computer Logic Design (3 credit hours): A-.
  • CDA 3201L, Computer Logic Design Lab (1 credit hour): A.
  • CEN 4022, Software Systems Development (3 credit hours): A.
  • EGN 3373, Introduction to Electrical Systems I (3 credit hours): A.
  • EGN 4450, Introduction to Linear Systems (2 credit hours): A.
  • EGN 4930, Modeling and Analysis of Engineering Systems (3 credit hours): A.

Not too shabby, considering that I thought I would fail Electrical Systems (C- is considered failing) and would get Bs in most of my other classes.

“Where the hell is everybody?”

Filed under: School @ 3:55 pm

I have two finals today. This morning, I had my Logic Design final (projected grade: 85-90), and in a couple of hours I’m having my Modeling and Analysis (Differential Equations) final.

This morning, though, I pulled one hell of a bonehead move. I showed up right on time… to the wrong class. I thought my DE test began at 10:30, so I was at the door at 10:25, and nobody else was there. This was odd. Panic set in when I checked my Clié and realized that not only was I at the wrong test, but I also had no idea where the Logic Design class would be. I hauled ass across campus, to the usual classroom; luckily for me, the test was in the same room. I was only a few minutes late, and the professor was still handing out the exam, so I didn’t lose any time.

I have no worries about the DE exam; it’s open book and open notes, and I’ve done well on all assignments so far.

I took a nap today.

Word to the wise: sleeping in a car during the day in Florida is not likely to be particularly pleasant.

That is all.
