Lakeland CocoaSIG Coming Soon!

I’m an iPhone user. So are a few of my coworkers, and many of the people we interact with in the .NET development world. I also use Macs as my primary computers.

The success of David Hayden’s Tampa Bay MVC SIG, devoted to learning ASP.NET MVC, has inspired quite a few people on the Twittersphere to discuss starting an Objective-C/Cocoa developer’s group, with an iPhone focus, in a similar vein. One of my coworkers, who I will refer to as “RS”, pointed out that we either need to fish or cut bait, and suggested we start the group ourselves. So we did.

We’re still arranging things. I’m something of a de facto PR person for the group (as I’m the Twitter veteran). Our meeting location is as yet undetermined; we’re in touch with USF Polytechnic regarding the use of their space. We also have no sponsors: this is strictly out-of-pocket for now.

I can’t promise great things yet, but we’re trying to get the ball rolling.

Unit Testing ASP.NET? Get TypeMock’s ASP.NET Bundle!

Unit Testing ASP.NET? ASP.NET unit testing has never been this easy.

Typemock is launching a new product for ASP.NET developers – the ASP.NET Bundle – and for the launch will be giving out FREE licenses to bloggers and their readers.

The ASP.NET Bundle is the ultimate ASP.NET unit testing solution, and offers both Typemock Isolator, a unit test tool and Ivonna, the Isolator add-on for ASP.NET unit testing, for a bargain price.

Typemock Isolator is a leading .NET unit testing tool (C# and VB.NET) for many ‘hard to test’ technologies such as SharePoint, ASP.NET, MVC, WCF, WPF, Silverlight and more. Note that for unit testing Silverlight there is an open source Isolator add-on called SilverUnit.

The first 60 bloggers who will blog this text in their blog and tell us about it, will get a Free Isolator ASP.NET Bundle license (Typemock Isolator + Ivonna). If you post this in an ASP.NET dedicated blog, you’ll get a license automatically (even if more than 60 submit) during the first week of this announcement.

Also 8 bloggers will get an additional 2 licenses (each) to give away to their readers / friends.

Go ahead, click the following link for more information on how to get your free license.

Conflicts in entertainment.

Or, “I dunno, what do you want to do?”

I’m in Tampa today. Most of my day was taken up by the Tampa Day of Ruby (I highly recommend the upcoming Orlando Day of Ruby to anyone wanting to learn Ruby and/or Rails.) Since I had most of the evening to kill, I decided to take in another movie.

I say “another” because I watched Star Trek last night. While it was truly an excellent movie, I had another option. MOSI has an IMAX theater, and they’re screening Watchmen. I haven’t seen Watchmen yet. So I bought a ticket.

The movie starts at 8:55, and I’m at a Starbucks a block away. All would be perfect except it’s been raining in spurts. I hope there’s a gap long enough for me to stay dry on my way from the parking lot to the theater.

Reboot: RAM 2.0.

After a far-too-long hiatus, I’ve returned to the blogging world.

Part of the reason I stopped updating was that nothing seemed all that interesting, and I didn’t want to push my older, more substantive, posts out with a bunch of drivel.  That’s changed with the advent of Twitter.  Twitter can carry my one-off comments or links, and the blog (what you’re reading right now) will have longer and more substantial content.

One thing to note: I do intend to repost older entries, with some of the better comments. Apologies if your comment isn’t included, but I’m just picking a few of the best.

So, c’mon back. I’ll be here.
