Disappearance, or the downside of transparency.

The more eagle-eyed among you may have noticed that some of my recent blog entries have vanished from this page. Rest assured that they’re not gone, only hidden until they can be revised. As for why: they got me in trouble. One of my superiors, someone I deeply respect and never intended to offend, took offense.

As you can see, my name is clearly attached to whatever I write. I have no plans to blog under a pseudonym. Frankly, most of what I write is only interesting if you know who I am. I don’t specify exactly where I work, although most people who know me already know that. I also don’t include coworkers’ names. I do this so that someone searching for a coworker won’t find what I have to say about them.

I also have no plans to stop blogging, or Twittering, altogether. Life would be too boring. But I do need to learn how to see a post the way others will. One of my coworkers pointed out today that while he could understand what I meant, he also could understand what would be considered offensive.

So my first course of action is clear: I’m going to revise the articles that led to offense, clearing up their intent. And I hope that’ll be enough.

Reboot: RAM 2.0.

After a far-too-long hiatus, I’ve returned to the blogging world.

Part of the reason I stopped updating was that nothing seemed all that interesting, and I didn’t want to push my older, more substantive, posts out with a bunch of drivel.  That’s changed with the advent of Twitter.  Twitter can carry my one-off comments or links, and the blog (what you’re reading right now) will have longer and more substantial content.

One thing to note: I do intend to repost older entries, with some of the better comments. Apologies if your comment isn’t included, but I’m just picking a few of the best.

So, c’mon back. I’ll be here.
